Delhi NGO Campaign, Entrepreneurs Raise Over Rs 13 Million For Oxygen Concentrators
India’s healthcare infrastructure is collapsing as the coronavirus pandemic ravages people. Social media is full of SOS posts looking for intensive care beds, oxygen cylinders, essential drugs and more. Considering the plight of millions of Indians, several fundraisers and donations have taken place. One such fundraiser, which raised a significant amount of money, was started by a collective of Delhi / NCR founders and entrepreneurs to help and aid hospitals that lacked oxygen to treat Covid19 patients. The organization launched the Oxygen Mission and created a Ketto fundraising page which raised ₹ 13.51.11,000 on Thursday. The target amount of funding set by Oxygen Mission is Rs 15 crore.
Thanks to this crowdfunding, volunteers and NGOs will buy 1000 x 10L oxygen concentrators directly from Chinese manufacturers. This essential equipment will then be delivered from Thursday to Delhi NCR. Delivery will be made directly to needy clinics, public hospitals and small nursing homes at no cost.
From now on, Oxygen Mission purchased more than 1,365 oxygen concentrators in China, which have started shipping. From Thursday, the Mission Oxygen team will be able to provide them to hospitals.
In order to ensure quick and efficient deliveries of this vital medical equipment, the Mission Oxygen team mentioned in their Ketto page that they are in contact with the DG, BSF, Major General (HQ), Indian Army , the president of ESIC, directors / physicians Superintendents / administrative heads of more than 240 public hospitals, private hospitals and nursing homes in 13 states. The logistics team is also in contact with the state governments of Delhi, Maharashtra and Telangana.
The states have presented their needs and the powers of concentrators are decided according to the real needs of the government, says the Ketto page. Distributions are organized with mandatory legal documents so that donations are distributed transparently. The Mission Oxygen team mentions that they have maintained full transparency in terms of donations which is open source and can be shared for any verification.
