Coming from a family with baldness , Giovanni Bojanini decided to change its imminent future and undertake a business that until then was not so relevant and specialized: the treatment of alopecia . The entrepreneur knew that his destiny was marked by genetic inheritance: he did not see his father with hair; his 23-year-old brother was already showing signs of alopecia, and he was already starting to lose significant hair.
At the time, around 1994, there were no medical advances than today. In addition, Bojanini assures that there were not even alternatives to solve a problem which today affects 50% of men aged 40 or under and 3 in 10 women in their fifties. Graduated in dermatology 27 years ago, he started his work in the field and decided to take the first step and open a laboratory and clinic on behalf of his family .
Bojanini remembers that an important motivator for him was to experience the case of a girl of only 17 who came to him with a serious problem of alopecia. While there wasn’t much that could be done as the hair loss was advanced, we did work and investigate. In this way, he found the work of a dermatologist who began to combine drugs to treat the problem and there began his own adventure.
After years and years of work, he found several formulas which he tested on himself with positive results. He combined drugs with which he created various mechanisms of action, which he then began to apply to patients who came to his office in Colombia, which increased with the rumor that was circulating about the famous Colombian who was working miracles with baldness.
So began to arrive people from Ecuador, Mexico and other Latin American countries, who were looking for a solution to their alopecia, which they could not find in their countries. The demand for his services in these countries has prompted him to cross borders and create new clinics. The first one was in Quito and from there nobody stopped him. Mexico is one of the most important countries for successful business.
Growth has been organic, clean and from the hand of franchises (although the company retains a percentage); It is expected that in each country where there is a presence, there will be a partner who supervises the operation, since the existence of a laboratory is necessary for the continuous investigation and the elaboration of the formulas. The expansion continues, as alopecia is a growing problem.
“You have to understand that alopecia is not a disease, but something genetic. Alopecia requires comprehensive treatments, with drugs and an analysis of what is happening on the scalp of each person, ”explains Bojanini, who has the largest research laboratory on the subject in Latin America and who has been able to see the opportunity in a small market. but whose potential is enormous.
