The new program has been launched to support UK food and drink entrepreneurs with the aim of helping the country recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Morrisons has offered UK entrepreneurs a fast track to a domestic market through a scheme, which gives emerging UK businesses the opportunity to sell products in its stores as well as listings in other parts of the business, including Morrisons. com and wholesale channels such as Amazon.

To support successful applicants, Morrisons has assembled a team of in-house experts to provide advice and support covering all aspects of retail, from production to packaging, marketing and logistics.

Birmingham-based company Winny’s Kitchen is the latest brand to launch with the grocer with its Jerk Sauce available in the Morrisons condiment aisle.

Darren Smith, Senior Director of Procurement at Morrisons, said: “We are a strong supporter of British food manufacturing, but we know that getting an idea to market can be a complicated process and some companies need help getting it done. Thanks to our Growing British Brands program, we were able to spot some exciting brands like Winny’s Kitchen and their delicious Jerk Sauce. We’re really excited to see it now launching in our stores and look forward to continuing to support Shaun and the team over the next few months.

Shaun Sookoo, CEO of Winny’s Kitchen, said: “From launching our food brand inspired by my mother’s kitchen to bringing it to Morrisons store shelves across the UK, it has been an exciting journey and we are grateful for the Growing British Brands program that we gave an opportunity. Morrisons helped us with expert advice to prepare our brand for national expansion, which means Winny’s Jerk Sauce is available at Morrisons stores across the UK.

Entrepreneurs offering products ranging from food and drink to beauty and housewares can apply to the Growing British Brands program by clicking on the “Supplying Morrisons” link at morrisons-corporate.com/suppliers
