More than 600,000 direct and indirect jobs generated by 22 mega food parks: Govt
More than 6 lakhs of direct and indirect jobs have been generated by the 22 operational mega food parks, Union State Minister for Food Processing Industries Prahlad Singh Patel said in a written response to Loksabha on Tuesday.
In accordance with the guidelines of the Mega Food Park Scheme, each Mega Food Park, once fully operational, would create direct and indirect jobs of approximately 5,000 people.

The ministry has granted final approval to 38 mega food parks and approval in principle to 3 mega food parks across the country under the mega food parks program. Around 666,000 direct and indirect jobs have been generated by the 22 operational Mega Food Parks.
The Department of Food Processing Industries has implemented the Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) to create a modern infrastructure for the food processing sector.
Proposals within the framework of the program to create mega-food parks in the country are solicited via the expression of interest.
“The program is not state or area specific. So far, the ministry has approved 2 mega food parks in Sonipat and Rohtak districts of Haryana implemented by government agencies in Haryana. State (HSIIDC and HAFED) of Mega Food Park in Bhiwani-Mahendragarh-Charkhi Dadri districts of Haryana, ”Patel said.
