Tesla CEO Elon Musk urged by Telangana trade minister to set up units in the state
Telangana’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, KT Rama Rao, has urged Elon Musk to set up units in India, saying he would be “happy to partner with Tesla to meet the challenges “.
Rama Rao’s response came in response to a tweet from Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk a few days ago, in which he said Tesla was facing many challenges in starting a business in India.

“Still overcoming many challenges with the government,” Musk tweeted Jan. 13 in response to a Twitter user who had asked for an update on Tesla’s India business plan.
“Hey Elon, I am the Minister of Industry and Commerce of Telangana State India. Will be happy to partner with Tesla to meet the challenges of setting up in India/Telangana. Our state is a champion sustainability initiatives and a premier business destination in India,” Rama Rao said in response to Elon Musk’s tweet.
Elon Musk announced in 2020 that Tesla would set up electric vehicle manufacturing units in India. A subsidiary of Tesla named India Motors and Energy Private Limited was established. The company is based in Bengaluru.
