TLC Owner Zak Huffman named MOV Entrepreneur of the Year
VINCENT, Ohio. (WTAP) – Zak Huffman has been honored as Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneur of the Year.
WTAP spoke to the man behind The Cocktail Bar, a gym, a music studio and several other local businesses.
After starting more than five businesses in the region, Zak Huffman has come full circle.
He said: “I’ve always been involved with horses, although I haven’t been exactly the way I am now, but the circle has really come full circle. I really like going back to where it all started.
Its equestrian center is, as you may have understood, only the tip of the iceberg. Huffman got his start in entrepreneurship when he was 18 when he started a photography studio. However, White Oak Property Research was the first time he was successful.
Huffman said: “I was hoping that five or six people would work for me within a few years and I think in two years we had four different offices and over 100 employees and that was around the time I ‘was 21 years old… “,
Huffman’s entrepreneurial spirit is in his blood.
He said, “I think I got it from my parents. They’ve always been self-employed and they’ve always been very motivated and they’ve always hustled each other since I was little and I was watching that and that’s kind of what I knew.
And just like his equestrian center, Nancy Huffman Stables, named after his grandmother who introduced him to horses when he was younger, his motivation has family roots.
Huffman said, “At the end of the day, at the end of the day, everything I do is for my daughter. You know … that’s what I’m gonna leave him, it’s all this stuff. She will love me or hate me for it. We’ll see.”
And if you think Huffman is going to relax after starting so many businesses, well …
“I always like to be two steps ahead,” he said. “You know, a lot of people are like, ‘The cocktail bar is doing well. You’re busier than you’ve ever been, so you’re done with this business, aren’t you? But no, I just started.
